Why choose midwives?
Research is clear that the midwifery model of care is the best kind of care if you are healthy and wish to have an unmedicated (natural) birth. It has also been proven to be one of the best ways to avoid an unnecessary cesarean section. At Tulsa Birth Center, our midwives use their extensive training and experience to guide you through the process of a normal, physiological birth without unnecessary interventions. We do this by helping you to stay healthy and to build confidence in your ability to naturally bring forth your baby into the world.
In addition to world-class, personalized midwifery care, we are home to a unique system of care that marries the best aspects of traditional midwifery care with sustainability of practice. To put it simply, our care model takes better care of you, and better care of your midwife. This makes everyone happier, healthier, and safer than in traditional or group-care models.
The midwives of Tulsa Birth Center support both home and birth center births, and would love to meet with you for a free, initial consultation so they can answer all your questions.

What is the Midwifery Model of Care?
The midwifery model of care is a type of maternity care based on the understanding that pregnancy and birth are normal physiological processes that should not be interfered with unless there is a clear indication that we should intervene. In this model, we take into consideration the whole person and their wellness across all five areas of health: Physical Health, Emotional Health, Intellectual Health, Social Health, and Spiritual Health. This holistic approach allows us to provide individualized education, counseling, and clinical care while minimizing unnecessary interventions.
In the midwifery model, a midwife provides all of your care, including ordering labs and ultrasounds and referring you to the appropriate provider to manage any complications that arise.
